Loyola Completes Undefeated Season, Captures 3rd Straight MIAA Championship

 Saturday night at Boys' Latin, the Loyola Blakefield Varsity Volleyball team completed its second straight undefeated season with a 3-1 (21-25, 25-12, 25-14, 25-22) victory over Calvert Hall in the MIAA A Conference Championship match. With the victory the Dons captured their 3rd straight A conference championship and their 6th in the past 9 seasons (2004, 2005, 2007, 2010, 2011, 2012). The team is on a 40 match winning streak dating back to the 2010 season.
Senior Outside Hitter Bennett Bradley led the Dons with a season high 24 kills while Senior Opposite Brady Harvey had 4 blocks and delivered 12 kills, including the championship winner. Other standout performances included senior Libero Blaise Connor (15 digs), senior Setter Devin McNamara (58 assists), senior Middle Hitter Peter Herrick (6 blocks), and junior Outside Hitter Jake Cohen (14 kills). Varsity Completes Perfect Season With A Conference Title

On Friday night at the Gelston Center at Boys' Latin School, the Loyola Dons Varsity Volleyball team capped off a perfect 20-0 season with a 3-1 win over Gilman giving them their second straight MIAA A Conference championship. It is their 5th overall since the program's beginning in 2001. Game scores were 25-19, 22-25, 25-23, 25-23. Senior Alec Dauses dominated the night with 22 kills and 9 aces while fellow team captain Matt Verderamo pulled up 12 digs. The Dons also received standout performances from senior Gerarde Clothier and juniors Bennett Bradley, Devin McNamara, Peter Herrick and Blaise Connor. Loyola Advances to A Conference Title Match

The 2011 Loyola Volleyball team (19-0, 9-0) advanced to its second consecutive MIAA A Conference championship match on Wednesday with a 3-1 defeat of Mt. St. Joseph (25-23, 25-19, 23-25, 25-14). The Dons, looking for their second straight A Conference title, will take on Gilman at 8:30 pm Friday 10/28 at Boys' Latin.
