Middle School
Varsity
Varsity Water Polo is coached by Loyola Aquatics Director Mr. Keith Schertle, 2001 graduate Brad Schertle and 2007 graduate Monu Motsiopolous.
Loyola for years has been extremely proud to boast about being the fastest team in the league and will be trying to continue that tradition again this year. The Varsity Team has 7 practices per week. Five practices occur after school during the week and two practices occur before school during the week. Weekends are set for tournaments and swim practice. Loyola has made it to the MIAA Championship game for the last 10 years winning the game in 2009 and 2010. Water Polo Players have gone on to play at Iona, George Washington, Fordham, and the United States Naval Academy.
Junior Varsity
Junior Varsity Water Polo is coached by Mr. Dan Hoehler. Dan is in his 11th year as the JV coach. The jv team has five practices per week and is offered two practices per week before school for strength and conditioning. The jv team has been in the MIAA Championship Game and or has won the jv championships since the league started. JV players tend to have a very good swimming background.
Middle School
Middle School is coached by Mr. Keith Schertle. The middle school team will be very young and will be concerned with ball movement and good defense. Loyola has never lost a middle school water polo game and will be strongly challenged by both Gilman and McDonogh this year. The coaching strategy is for the young men to learn ball and player movement on the offense and to shut down the opposing team on defense.
During the Summer Months the pool is open on selected evenings for water polo play for middle, high school, and prospective students.
