Indoor Track
Loyola field teams on both the varsity and jayvee level. The Dons compete in the competitive MIAA conference. There are weekly meets either at Loyola’s wonderful indoor track facility or at Prince George’s Center, which is among the premier indoor facilities in the nation. Having the opportunity to compete at PG Center as a high schooler is a unique privilege.
Last year members of the varsity team qualified for National Championships and ran at the fabled New York Armory Indoor Track facility and will probably do so again this year. Practice begins on Monday November 7th for both varsity and j.v. Practice will be daily from 3:15 to 4:30. Indoor track is a no-cut sport and requires no prior experience. Many of our best athletes are newcomers to the sport. Running for your high school team is a thrill that you do not want to miss.
The varsity coaches are head coach Chris Cucuzzella and assistant Jose Albornoz. John Minidakis will help out again with the sprinters. Also joining the staff this year will be Lee Jephson who brings a wealth of knowledge about speed and strength development. Questions can be addressed to Coach Cucuzzella at ccucuzzella@loyolablakefield.org.
