BLAKEFIELD COMMUNITY COMPLETES ANNUAL 100-MILE SWIM IN RECORD TIME

Last week, our middle and high school swimmers, along with other members of the Blakefield community, participated in the annual 100-Mile Swim. The swim began at 8:00 a.m. on Dec. 21, and was completed in record time at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 22 in 26.5 hours. Throughout this time, swimmers were continuously in the water trading laps until 100 miles were completed.

In the past 18 years, over $120,000 has been raised by this event and donated to various charities including the Wounded Warrior Project, Institute for Cancer Care at Mercy Hospital, and the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society of Maryland.

This year, all donated proceeds from the swim will benefit the Timothy O. Pierce ’60 Memorial Scholarship Fund, which provides tuition assistance to incoming accepted freshmen or enrolled students with exceptional talent in an aquatic sport.

If you would like to make a gift to the fund, visit support.loyolablakefield.org/give and be sure to put "Timothy O. Pierce ’60 Memorial Scholarship Fund" in the Tribute section.
