Anthony Day Named 37th President of Fordham Preparatory School

It is with mixed emotions we share the news that Mr. Anthony Day has been named the 37th President of Fordham Preparatory School, effective July 15, 2023. We invite you to read the following update from our Board of Trustees, which was sent to members of our community this morning.

Dear Alumni, Families, and Friends,

We are writing to share an important update regarding leadership at Loyola Blakefield. Mr. Anthony Day, who has served as a dedicated and faithful leader since his appointment as President in 2013, has been named the new President of Fordham Preparatory School (Bronx, NY). His appointment is effective July 15, 2023.

President Day joined the Loyola Blakefield community in 2008 as Principal. Prior to that, he served as Assistant Principal at Regis High School, a Jesuit institution in Manhattan. He began his career in Jesuit education at Fordham Preparatory School where he spent seven years as an English teacher. In many ways, this transition is a return to his roots. In addition to his professional ties to the region, Mr. Day will greatly benefit from the closer proximity to family, in particular his father who resides in New Jersey. In conversations regarding this opportunity, Mr. Day has firmly declared a strong and sincere desire to be more accessible to his father while continuing his career in Jesuit education.

During his tenure at Loyola Blakefield, Mr. Day led Loyola to its most successful fundraising initiative in school history—a $32 million capital campaign that resulted in the construction of St. Ignatius Hall, enhanced the school’s scholarship endowment, and bolstered annual giving. He was also instrumental in crafting and implementing the strategic vision that has guided the school’s growth over the past decade, including the addition of innovative academic and co-curricular programming and the expansion of spiritual formation and service offerings.

Mr. Day’s legacy at Loyola is one of collaboration and thoughtful, reflective Ignatian leadership. As members of the Loyola Blakefield Board of Trustees, we are proud of the exemplary progress and strengthened foundations that his service to Loyola has delivered. We also look forward to continuing our partnership as he completes his final school year and we set our sights on a promising and exciting future for Loyola and its current and future Dons.

The Board has already begun formulating the process that will guide the search for the next dynamic spiritual and educational leader of our beloved school community. Please stay tuned for updates on that important work. As we transition to a new President, we are blessed to be in a position of strength and stability, and to have our outgoing President’s participation in the process.

Please join us in congratulating Mr. Day on this next chapter of his career as an Ignatian educator. Fordham Prep can expect amazing things as a result of his wisdom, servant leadership, and dedication to the formation of its students as men with and for others.
