Loyola Cyber Science Attends SINET Showcase

On Thursday, Nov. 8, members of our Cyber Science program attended the Security Innovation Network (SINET) Showcase in Washington DC, where they heard from Department of Homeland Security Secretary and keynote speaker Kristjen Nielsen, among others.

Several students were also invited to sit on a panel at the National Press Club to give their perspectives on cyber education. The panel, made up of Director of Cyber Science Mr. Steve Morrill as the moderator, Jake Sanft ‘19, Brock Pivec ‘21, Mike O’Brien ‘14 (UMCP ‘19), Anna Ptak (MDSA ‘20), and Hanna Darrow (MDSA ‘20), discussed learning and career pathways, needed foundational skills, how to inspire more young women to get involved, and how Loyola has built and inspired cyber programs globally.

Those in attendance represented an elite group of investors, innovators, government officials, and executive level management in the cyber industry.
