Middle School Hosts Photographer, Author, & Explorer Denis Bellevieu

Prior to Thanksgiving, our middle school hosted photographer, author, and explorer Denis Bellevieu on campus to recount the journey both he and his friend took in 1993–95 retracing Marco Polo's route from Europe to Asia and back along the Silk Road. It took them two years to complete the journey, which began and ended in Venice, Italy, and led them through numerous countries in Asia.

The morning was highlighted with a viewing of their Emmy-nominated documentary titled In the Footsteps of Marco Polo, which they shot on their travels, followed by lunch and a Q&A with Mr. Bellevieu. He had a number of artifacts from his time in Asia that the boys were allowed to touch, try on, and feel for themselves. In the afternoon, the students broke out by class to draw a map of Asia and retrace the route.
