Dons Attend Maryland Junior Classical League Convention

The Loyola Blakefield chapter of the Maryland Junior Classical League attended the state convention hosted by Easton High School on April 6 & 7. Our Dons took part in outdoor games, academic testing, certamen (quiz bowl), a spirit competition, and interacted with Roman legionary reenactors who were there displaying their gear and weapons. Sophomore Anthony Alark won first place in the Latin Spelling Bee, freshmen Kyle Weaver and Jeremy Plimpton came in 3rd place in the certamen, and the whole group won the Ultimate Frisbee tournament. Kyle and Jeremy also built their own trebuchet for the catapult competition, and all the students represented Loyola well. Thanks to Mrs. Elizabeth Wise and our Classical Language Department for accompanying our students.
