Loyola Cyber Science to Host 3rd Annual Cyber Challenge & Workforce Summit
The 3rd Annual Loyola Blakefield Cyber Challenge (LBC2) will take place on our campus on Saturday, March 7, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., alongside a newly-announced Workforce Summit in partnership with the Governor's Workforce Development Board (GWBD).
Created by students, for students, the Cyber Challenge will teach and assess participants' skills and applications for handling cyber threats. Participants will be challenged with real-life scenarios that embody the specific cyber threats that are prevalent in today’s society. Whether participants have had little or no training, or are well-skilled in computer management, this challenge is open to all students across Maryland in grades 8–12. Industry mentors will be on hand to make this a true teaching and learning day. If you have wanted to get involved in cyber security, this is a great opportunity to try it out. There is no cost to attend for the day, and lunch will be provided. Participants only need to bring a laptop that is capable of accessing the internet wirelessly. Register here.
Throughout the day, we will also be offering a Workforce Summit for parents, industry partners, guidance counselors, educators, and friends and family of competitors. This summit is inspired by the Governor’s Workforce Development Board (GWDB) and aspires to highlight the private and public sector’s need in all types of businesses for future employees capable of defending against complicated cyber threats. In order to fulfill these needs, the development of students' hard and soft skills must occur through internships and apprenticeships. The Workforce Summit hopes to build a better relationship between students, educators, and employers to provide students the skills to make a positive impact in future. Many of the summit sessions will be run by current students. Register here.

• Attend: We need business representatives to attend the event in the morning as an opportunity to talk to students and parents about the cybersecurity career path. Please also let us know if you are interested in speaking on a panel.
• Mentor: Volunteers will be onsite throughout the day to help students work through the competition.
• Sponsor: Tax-deductible sponsorships can be donated in order to cover the event logistics, lunch for all participants, swag bag, and prizes for the top teams.
