Loyola Wrestling Finishes Program-Best Third Overall at State Championship

Loyola Wrestling was at it again this past weekend. After placing all 14 wrestlers at the MIAA tournament a week prior, the team traveled to McDonogh for the Maryland State Wrestling Championship on Saturday, where they finished 3rd overall and placed 13 of 14 wrestlers in a tournament that included six top-ten ranked teams in the state. It was the best finish at the state tournament in program history.

James Conway '21 won the Maryland State Wrestling Championship at 170 lbs. On his way to the title, James knocked off two highly-ranked wrestlers from MSJ and John Carroll. "James is one of the most humble and hardest working young men I have had the pleasure of coaching," said Coach Steve Truitt.

See how all of our Dons performed below. The team qualified ten wrestlers for the National Prep Tournament at Lehigh University this weekend, the most wrestlers the program has sent to the tournament in almost two decades.
