Loyola Cyber Advances Nine Teams to CyberPatriot XIV Semifinals

December marked the State Round of the Air Force Association’s CyberPatriot XIV, the nation’s largest youth cyber defense competition. Teams competed in their brackets for state-level awards and to secure a spot in the semifinal round in January. Overall, Loyola Cyber is advancing nine high school teams and four middle school teams to the semifinal round.

Over the course of the season, high school teams are broken down into three competitive brackets—Platinum teams represent the top 30% of teams nationally; Gold teams represent the middle 40%; and Silver teams represent the remaining 30%. For the 7th year in a row, Loyola Cyber swept the Platinum division for the state of Maryland, capturing first, second, and third place.

Also, congratulations to a brand-new team to LBCSI this year consisting of four seniors—Christian Arthur, Luke Smith, Matthew Welling, and Matthew Cammarata—who captured second place in the Gold tier.

The Middle School Division follows a different qualification model with the top 50% of teams advance to the semifinal round. For the 7th year, Loyola has captured the top two state awards in the Middle School Division.
