Loyola Blakefield Names New Varsity Basketball Coach

Joshua Czerski has been named Loyola’s new Varsity Basketball Coach. Czerski recently completed his sixth season as Head Coach of the Varsity Boys Basketball team at Parkville High School. He helped lead the Knights to an overall record of 116-33 over that time. The team also captured the Maryland State 4A Regional Champions in 2020, 2022, and 2023. Czerski was named Baltimore County Coach of the Year for the 2018-19 and 2021-22 seasons. He also garnered Varsity Sports Network Coach of the Year honors in 2021-22. Most recently, the team defeated Meade Senior High School to capture its latest 4A title.

Czerski’s coaching experience also extends to one year as Varsity Assistant at John Carroll High School, and three years as Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach for Penn State York University’s men’s team. His playing career blossomed while a member of the varsity squad at the former Towson Catholic High School from 2003-2007. During his senior year, the team captured the MIAA and Baltimore Catholic League Championship titles. He served as team captain for four years at Penn State York where he was twice named Second Team All-Conference and was a four-time Academic All-Conference honoree. He graduated in May 2012 and later pursued an M.B.A at Grand Canyon University.

As he sets his sights on next season, Czerski eagerly anticipates a return to the MIAA and Baltimore Catholic League play. “I am very excited to take the helm for Loyola Basketball,” said Czerski. “I am honored by the opportunity to be able to work with our student athletes, to be part of the Loyola Blakefield community, and to once again embrace the competitiveness and spirit of MIAA and Baltimore Catholic League play.”

Czerski brings a broad range of experience to the role that incorporates what he has learned and witnessed as a collegiate player and coach. Additionally, he is the owner of Elite Basketball Academy, LLC., which specializes in player development and serves players that range from beginners to NBA-level talent.

“We are excited that Coach Czerski has accepted our offer to lead the Loyola Basketball Program,” said Blake Henry ’98, Director of Athletics. “He buys into Loyola’s philosophy of developing the mind, body, and spirit of each student-athlete and has a history of building a championship culture within his programs. We are looking forward to him bringing that same culture to our community. Roll Dons Roll!”
