Loyola Blakefield Enhances Formal Partnership with MedStar Sports Performance

Loyola Blakefield has enjoyed a fruitful relationship with MedStar Health, but a newly inked agreement forges a partnership that delivers an array of benefits ranging from strength and agility training to injury recovery and rehabilitation. Recognized as a national leader in youth sports safety, training, emergency response, and injury care, Loyola is poised to reinforce its commitment to the health and safety of its student athletes.

Among the elements of the partnership are:
  • A dedicated coach in our weight room who can train teams and individuals Monday through Friday with hours during and after the school day.

  • Coaches who will provide two speed and agility workouts per week during the academic year and weekday summer training sessions for individuals and teams.

  • Specialists in phase III/return-to-sport rehabilitation services who will provide onsite care two days per week during the academic year.
“We are excited to partner with MedStar Sports Performance in the development of our student-athletes,” said Blake Henry ’98, Director of Athletics. “Led by Jay Dyer, certified strength and conditioning specialist and Director of Sports Performance for MedStar Union Memorial Sports Medicine, MedStar will deliver a professional level of expertise for all of our athletes across all of our programs. They will also assist our coaching staff in building our student-athletes to become the best versions of themselves.”

Loyola Blakefield Athletics fulfills the mission, vision, and values of our school by forming leaders that serve with and for others, developing the mind, body, and spirit of our student-athletes, and building programs that foster a culture of champions—all for the greater glory of God.
