IT'S ACADEMIC TEAM CROWNED 2016-17 CATHOLIC ACADEMIC LEAGUE CHAMPIONS

On Tuesday, April 25, Loyola's It's Academic team was crowned 2016-17 Catholic Academic League Champions at the final Catholic Academic League Tournament of the school year, hosted by Archbishop Curley.

Academic teams from nine high schools in the Archdiocese of Baltimore participated in two matches to complete the round-robin tournament. The Dons, made up of seniors Drew Barker, Nicholas Cecil, and John Parks, advanced to the finals where they defeated archrival Calvert Hall. "This is special because in previous years Calvert Hall had been number one in the league and was the team all members were looking forward to beat," said It's Academic Club Moderator Mr. Howard Ford.

Each match featured 40 team-round questions followed by a 30-question buzzer round. Questions tested a broad range of knowledge including history, literature, science, religion, and current events.

Members of Loyola Blakefield's It's Academic team include Drew Barker '17, Nicholas Cecil '17, Michael Chorabik '20, Kenneth Cooper '19, Cortland Nelson '18, Conor Nicholas '20, Chid Nnake '18, John Parks '17, and Jacob Robinson '20.
