Loyola Opens State-of-the-Art Baseball Training Facility

We are very excited to announce the opening of the Bolduc Family Training Facility, a $50,000 state-of-the-art baseball training space located on the second floor of the Four-Court Gymnasium in Knott Hall, which has been gifted to Loyola by JP & Evelyn Bolduc, GP '19, '21, in name of Mr. Bolduc's company, JPB Partners. The Bolducs toured the completed facility yesterday with Varsity Baseball Coach Mike Kelly and several baseball players, after it was blessed by Fr. Bruce Steggert, S.J.

The space is equipped with a HitTrax system, which measures hit velocity, launch angle, and distance, among other statistics. "These metrics are the newest ways in which college and professional hitters and coaches analyze their swings," said Kelly. "This system allows us to teach our guys using the latest and most accurate technology, which is going to go a long way in developing great hitters from the moment they join the program."

The system can also simulate a player’s hit in any MLB stadium of their choice, which can be viewed on the monitor behind them. Each swing can be video recorded and instruction can be done in slow motion and sent to the player via email. Each player in the program is equipped with their own profile, which will archive their swings to show the differences from when they started using the system. Loyola is one of only ten high schools in the country with this technology. "The players are excited to start using it to get better at the hardest thing to do in sports, hitting a baseball," said Kelly.

None of this would be possible without the support from the Bolduc family. "The generosity from donors like the Bolducs enable Loyola student-athletes to enjoy continued success in their endeavors," said Michael Keeney, Director of Athletics. "Our baseball players now have a first-class facility to utilize year round.”
