Engineering Students Test Homemade Siege Devices

To start off the year, Mr. Hnatiuk's Intro to Engineering classes are learning about the history and physics of various medieval siege weapons. Over the past few weeks, students were split into groups of three and tasked with building their own. The groups finally finished construction last week, and on Monday they had the chance to put their devices to the test on the baseball field. This year's innovative designs included a variety of homemade slingshots, catapults, trebuchets, and even air cannons. Students had to launch a golf ball from their devices and measure the distance it traveled. View photos and videos below.
