Highlights from Cyber Science Insignis Retreat

On Friday, October 13, Mr. Brendan O'Kane, Director of Campus Ministries, pioneered the first non-athletic Insignis Retreat with students in our Cyber Science Program. The aim of this retreat is to provide an opportunity for students to grow closer with God and their peers, while also allowing space for personal reflection and goal setting.

The Insignis Retreat, which Mr. O'Kane founded last year with several of our sports teams, was designed to eventually be applicable for non-athletic teams and programs. "We have been intentionally rolling out these retreats with our sports programs, adding a few teams every year," said O'Kane. "We found this retreat to be so successful with them that now we have begun to do the same with some of our other programs like cyber and robotics. We will be looking to implement it with more clubs and activities in the future."

Insignis is a word taken from the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, in which Ignatius used it to refer to someone whose service of God was particularly ardent and distinguished. Inspired by the Spiritual Exercises and writings of St. Ignatius, the themes for the retreat are: communication, commitment, and community.

During the evening, students engaged in several breakout sessions, a campus-wide scavenger hunt for team-building, a community dinner, and finished with a prayer service in the chapel.

Thanks to Mr. O'Kane and Director of Cyber Science Mr. Steve Morrill, as well as the student leaders and parent volunteers who helped make this night possible for our Cyber Dons. View photos from the event below.
