Yale Whiffenpoofs Perform at Loyola

On Saturday, January 27, Loyola was blessed with a visit from the world-renowned Yale Whiffenpoofs, the oldest college a cappella group in the nation, whose credits include performances for Popes and Presidents at forums like Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the White House. Thanks to a generous contribution from Jim Connaughton ’79 (a Whiffenpoofs alumnus), 300 folks from the Loyola community and beyond were treated to a live concert highlighting the group’s signature melding of humor and harmonizing. The program featured a wide array of music including show tunes, negro spirituals, and rock classics arranged in the Whiffenpoof’s trademark style. Thanks to all those who attended, particularly parents Dave & Kristin Barnes who housed and fed the ensemble during their tour of the Mid-Atlantic.
