Frosh Basketball Crowned MIAA & BCL Champions

To cap off a very successful season, Loyola Blakefield's freshman basketball team was crowned 2018 Baltimore Catholic League Champions after defeating Mt. St. Joseph 56–45 in the finals on February 26 (watch the entire game below).

This is the team's second BCL Championship in as many years. The team also won the MIAA “A” Conference Championship last Wednesday with a 58–45 win over Archbishop Spalding. The Dons ended the season on a 14-game winning streak, bringing their record to 16–1.

Before the game, members of MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center received a check for $3,466.75 in which our basketball program raised for the hospital's "We Care Fund" during Coaches vs. Cancer weekend in January. Our basketball program has raised nearly $15,000 in the past five years for various cancer-related charities.

In other basketball news, JV defeated Mt. Carmel 56–51 in their BCL quarterfinal game and will host Calvert Hall in the semifinals on Thursday. Varsity plays their BCL quarterfinal game at St. Maria Goretti High School on Thursday.
