Coach Michael Marchiano: As a collegiate athlete, he was part of two NCAA National Champion men’s teams at University of Maryland, College Park. He also served as team captain for the Terps from 2006-2008. His playing career extended to time spent with the Real Maryland Monarchs of the United Soccer League. “We are excited that Mike Marchiano has agreed to be the next head varsity soccer coach at Loyola Blakefield,” said Blake Henry ’98, Director of Athletics. “Coach Marchiano is passionate about working with young men to become the best version of themselves and we are looking forward to him bringing that passion to our program.”
His coaching experience includes serving as an assistant at University of Maryland, West Point, and six seasons at Loyola University Maryland. Most recently, he has served as the head men’s coach at Drexel University. During his three seasons leading the Dragons, he led them to their first coastal Athletics Association (CAA) tournament in seven years and guided the team to the semifinals in all three seasons. Over the course of his tenure, his team compiled a 21-16-9 record making him only the third coach in program history to maintain a winning record.
