Our Varsity Tennis Team competes in the extremely competitive MIAA “A” Conference and has proved itself to be consistent contenders for the MIAA championship by qualifying the playoffs every year since 2001.  We have played in the last 17 of 20 MIAA semifinals, and making it to the MIAA finals in 2015 and 2016. The team had one of the best seasons in school history in 2016, playing in the closest team final in MIAA history, and winning three of five MIAA Individual Championships. Over the years, several varsity players have been selected to the All-MIAA team and many have gone on to play at the collegiate level.

The Loyola Tennis Program is headed by Coach Hosford ‘04, who is a former player for the program and current Mathematics teacher at the school.  With the assistance of Russ Taylor ‘06 and JV coach, Jeff Nelson, and MS coach, Christian Anderson ‘89, the program has focused on their goals of instilling in their players the values of an Ignatian education: forming leaders, building a culture of hard work and perseverance, and emphasizing the importance of sportsmanship and integrity.  Loyola Blakefield Tennis players are ambassadors for Loyola and represent our school with the highest standard of being “Men For Others”.  We encourage a team approach to the game and work hard for each other.
