Meet Spencer

As we conclude this summer's Student Spotlight series, we are proud to recognize Spencer Belbot '27, whose Loyola journey has been shaped by brotherhood, gratitude, and a desire to give back.
A third-generation Don, Spencer grew up hearing about the Loyola experience from his older brothers. Today, he feels that same deep appreciation for the community that has become a defining part of his life.
"I love Loyola Blakefield," Spencer said. "My brothers also went to Loyola, and they loved it just as much as I have. My time at Blakefield has been full of brotherhood and friendships that will last a lifetime. The people I walk the halls with now will be standing with me on my wedding day years from now."
While Spencer excels in the classroom, in the pool, and in campus leadership, one tradition stands above the rest when he reflects on his time at Loyola.
"Over the past three years, my favorite day has always been the Scholarship Breakfast, when donors and benefactors come to campus to share a meal with their recipients," he said. "The Scholarship Breakfast inspires me to give back to Loyola any chance I get. If my Wall Street finance dreams work out, I hope to one day support the Dons the same way others have supported me. I will forever be indebted to Loyola and to the people who make it so special. God bless Loyola Blakefield."
Spencer's commitment to faith, leadership, and excellence is evident. He serves in Peer Education and Campus Ministry, and assists at school liturgies as both a Sacristan and Eucharistic Minister. In recognition of his character and contributions to the Loyola community, he was named the 2026 recipient of the Tommy P. Oswald Award.
A standout student-athlete, Spencer is an Academic All-American, Athletic All-American, All-MIAA selection, and both an MIAA and Loyola school record holder in swimming. Next fall, he will continue his academic and athletic career at Northwestern University, where he has committed to swim while pursuing his future ambitions.
As our Summer Spotlight series comes to a close, Spencer's story serves as a reminder of what makes Loyola Blakefield so special: a brotherhood that lasts a lifetime, a community built on gratitude and generosity, and a commitment to using one's gifts in service of others.
