Certificate Program
A traditional liberal arts education is designed to liberate the minds of young men, allowing them to pursue a multi-disciplinary education. Our Certificate Program takes this process a step further by recognizing and rewarding students who identify and practice their passions through a combination of coursework, co-curricular activities, and extracurricular activities. In this program, we ask students to examine academic context through their studies, gain real-world experience through their field work, and act to make a difference through their final projects.
The completion of all certificate programs involves fulfilling academic requirements in a chosen course of study, involvement in a choice of co-curricular experiences, and a final project related to the specific field during the final quarter of senior year. A student choosing to pursue a certificate will begin the process in his sophomore year during course selection.
By following the framework of the certificate, students are making interdisciplinary connections, and pursuing passions to take action, thus connecting their experience to our larger mission.

Cyber & Informatics
Courses a student may pursue while earning this certificate include ethical decisions, intro to programming, AP computer science, cyber science, or engineering. Co-curricular involvement may include robotics, cybersecurity, drone club, gearheads or RC rockets and cars. -
Expression & Creativity
Courses a student may pursue while earning this certificate include religious themes in literature, creative writing, intro to programming, photojournalism, advanced studio art, architectural design, film study, symphonic honors band, AP composition, digital media, or vocal ensemble. Co-curricular involvement may include yearbook, Blakefield players, forensics, Cappie critics, film club, or the newspaper. -
Global Mindedness & Inclusion
Courses a student may pursue while earning this certificate include world religions, higher level modern or classical languages, world literature, AP literature, or civil rights. Co-curricular involvement may include the Ignatian family teach-in, an international school trip, Model UN, the junior classical league, or an affinity club. -
Integral Ecology
Courses a student may pursue while earning this certificate include marine science, ethical decisions, engineering, architectural design, AP environmental science, economics, or AP statistics. Co-curricular involvement may include the environmental club, the justice summit, the Ignatian carbon challenge, or the Sportsmen's Association. -
Service & Justice
Courses a student may pursue while earning this certificate include economics, civil rights, AP environmental science, engineering, photojournalism, Ignatian spirituality, or Catholic social thought. Co-curricular involvement may include the justice summit, art for others, campus ministry, the service and justice committee.
