Ten Dons Named National Merit Scholarship Commended Students
Congratulations to our National Merit Scholarship Commended Students Nate Beal '20 (not pictured), Jeremy Hannon '20 (not pictured), Justin Hill '20, Eddie Keating '20 (not pictured), Marlo Lacson '20 (not pictured), Paul Macdonald '20, Nathan Prouse '20, Jacob Robinson '20 (not pictured), Matt Smolka '20, and David Wilbourne '20.
In late September, more than two-thirds (about 34,000) of the approximately 50,000 high scorers on the PSAT/NMSQT receive Letters of Commendation in recognition of their outstanding academic promise. Although Commended Students do not continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships, some of these students do become candidates for special scholarships sponsored by corporations and businesses.
Additionally, Justin Hill and Paul Macdonald were recognized by the National Hispanic Recognition Program as part of the National Merit Scholarship Program. The National Hispanic Recognition Program recognizes approximately 5,000 Hispanic/Latino juniors each year from among the more than 400,000 juniors who take the PSAT.
Ben Rohd '20 was named our only National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist earlier this fall. Read that story here.
