Nate Brady '08 Named MIAA Rugby Coach of the Year Following Championship Season

Following an undefeated season and MIAA Championship victory, Varsity Coach Nate Brady '08 has been named the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) Rugby Coach of the Year. 

Under Brady's leadership, the Rugby Dons delivered a remarkable campaign, finishing the season unbeaten and capturing the MIAA Rugby Championship with a hard-earned victory over Archbishop Spalding in a high-intensity final. The championship capped a season defined by resilience, discipline, and a commitment to excellence that reflected the best of Loyola athletics.

A member of the Class of 2008, Brady has dedicated himself to developing young men both as rugby players and as leaders. His passion for the sport, combined with his deep connection to Loyola Blakefield, has helped build a program rooted in teamwork, accountability, and brotherhood.

"Nate did an outstanding job with our Rugby Team this year," said Brant Hall '98, Director of Athletics. "He is an exceptional leader who consistently helps young men reach their full potential both on and off the rugby pitch. His knowledge of the game, combined with his ability to teach and develop fundamental skills, makes him one of the finest coaches in the sport. More importantly, Nate uses rugby as a vehicle to teach valuable life lessons, helping his players grow as athletes, students, and young men of character."

Brady was quick to share the recognition with his team, crediting the Rugby Dons for the program's remarkable season. He pointed to the players' dedication, work ethic, and commitment to one another as the driving force behind the undefeated campaign and MIAA Championship victory, noting that their effort and perseverance throughout the season made the accomplishment possible. 

 

For Brady, the Coach of the Year honor reflects more than wins and championships. It is a testament to the culture built within the program and the dedication of the student-athletes who embraced the challenge of competing at the highest level. As an alumnus coaching at his alma mater, Brady continues to carry forward Loyola Blakefield's mission of forming young men of intellect, faith, and integrity.
