Meet Billy

For Billy Nicholson '26, the most meaningful lessons he learned at Loyola Blakefield extended far beyond the classroom. Through academics, service, and the Jesuit call to be a man for and with others, Billy discovered how his talents could be used to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
"The most valuable aspect of Loyola, for me, has been the central value of being a man for and with others," Billy said. "Loyola has helped me to understand that true fulfillment comes not just from achievement, but rather from using one's skills in order to serve those in need and make the world a better place."
This fall, Billy will attend Vanderbilt University, where he plans to study Mechanical Engineering.
One of the defining moments of Billy's Loyola experience came during a service trip to Micronesia last summer. Working alongside others, he helped repair the Wi-Fi network at a Jesuit high school, combining his technical skills with Loyola's mission of service.
"The service opportunities made available to me through Loyola, particularly my trip to Micronesia last summer to repair a Jesuit high school's Wi-Fi network, allowed me to come to my own understanding of the value to be found in employing one's skills and talents for the greater good," Billy said. "I know this value will continue to guide me throughout my life, and I am deeply grateful for how Loyola has instilled it within me."
Billy's commitment to academic excellence was reflected in his recognition as an AOB Distinctive Scholar. He also earned Excellence Awards in Cyber Science Honors, AP Calculus BC, AP English Composition, AP Statistics, and AP Italian. Beyond the classroom, Billy contributed to Loyola's Catholic League Quiz Bowl Championship team and performed as a member of the Jazz Ensemble.
As he prepares to begin his studies at Vanderbilt, Billy carries with him not only an outstanding academic foundation, but also a deep commitment to using his knowledge and abilities in service to others. His Loyola experience serves as a testament to the lasting impact of combining intellectual curiosity with compassion, and we look forward to seeing the difference he will make in the years ahead.
