Loyola Names New Associate Director of Admissions

Loyola Blakefield has named Stephen Abrams as its new Associate Director of Admissions. Abrams comes to Loyola after serving one year as the Dean of Students and Director of High School Placement at the Baltimore Collegiate School for Boys, an all-boys college preparatory charter school here in Baltimore. Prior to that, he served as the Director of Admissions and Financial Aid at Greenspring Montessori School and worked for several years at McDonogh—of which he is 2009 graduate—in the Admissions Office and teaching in the middle school.

“I love admissions work because I enjoy getting to hear a family’s story,” said Abrams. “Admissions work at its core is about relationships, and I enjoy building those bonds with the people who walk through our door, while conveying the many joys of our community.”

Abrams will be working on many aspects of the Admissions process, with Shadow Days being one of his main areas of focus. “I am looking forward to working with the team on making the Shadow Day process more personal through added interviews and other one-on-one experiences throughout the day,” said Abrams.

“Stephen comes to Loyola with a broad knowledge of the many aspects of today’s Admissions world—from recruitment to engagement to financial aid,” said John Feeley, Director of Admissions. “Furthermore, his most recent experience at Baltimore Collegiate School as a senior administrator gives him a unique perspective not only of school governance, including curriculum design and execution, but also of the care and support of young men. I am delighted to have him as a vital member of the Admissions team.”

In addition to his role in the Admissions Office, Abrams will serve as Assistant Coach on the varsity lacrosse team. Down the road as he settles in, he also hopes to find time to serve as a faculty advisor on one of the many clubs Loyola offers its students.

Abrams is a Baltimore native and graduated from Towson University in 2013 with a B.A. in Communication and Mass Communication Studies. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling and spending time outdoors with his girlfriend, Kelly, and their 9-month-old Chocolate Lab, Scout.
