New Scholarship Fund Established in Memory of Alumnus

We are humbled and honored to share with our community that an anonymous benefactor has generously gifted $500,000 to Loyola Blakefield in order to establish both an immediate scholarship and a newly created endowed scholarship fund with the school. The gift, which is made in memory of Loyola Blakefield alumnus and former swimmer, John L. Kennedy ’66, will be designated to support multiple partial scholarships for students who demonstrate talent as part of Loyola Blakefield’s Aquatics Program. The new endowed fund will be titled The John L. Kennedy ’66 Endowed Scholarship.

Scholarships of this nature are instrumental in keeping Loyola accessible and affordable to future generations of Dons while also helping to provide resources that advance prestigious programs. One of the premier high school aquatics programs in the country, the Dons recently captured a third straight National Catholic Championship title and were crowned the 2023-24 MIAA A Conference Champions on Saturday, February 3rd.  

 

Additionally, a generous benefactor has committed $40,000 towards the renovation of the Aquatics Center locker rooms. Their investment will elevate our facilities and raise the experience of our swimming and diving team members to new heights, showcasing an unwavering dedication to maintaining exemplary programs at Loyola Blakefield. This is not just a donation; it's a game-changing commitment that honors the excellence of this storied athletics program!
