LOYOLA BASKETBALL SWEEPS CALVERT HALL

Loyola Basketball hosted Calvert Hall on Friday, February 3, and all three teams came away with wins. The freshman team defeated the Cardinals 52-40 after donning Jerry Savage era warm-up gear from the '70s before the game. JV also came out on top with a score of 57-46.

The most exciting moment of the night came with 2.6 seconds left in the varsity game when Kenny Lewis '17 made a three-pointer to give the Dons an 87-84 lead and the victory in front of a sold-out crowd at Jerry Savage Court.

Calvert Hall led 45-40 at halftime, scoring 9 three-pointers in the first half. Loyola took the lead early in the third and led by 10 midway through the 4th quarter before Calvert Hall rallied to tie the score at 84 on two free throws by Brendan Adams with 23 seconds remaining, which gave enough time for Lewis to set up his game-winning SportsCenter-worthy three-pointer. Calvert Hall got one more chance before the buzzer, but the shot fell short. Lewis led all scorers with 45 points and JJ Halaby '18 added 17 for the Dons. This victory ended an 8-year losing streak for the Dons against rival Calvert Hall.
