BRODIE HOLMES CAPTURES TITLE AT MIAA INDOOR TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Loyola Blakefield Indoor Track & Field placed third overall behind usual powerhouses Mount Saint Joseph and Gilman at the 2016-17 MIAA Championships on Friday, January 30, at the Prince George's Sports & Learning Complex.

Highlights from the event include:

  • MIAA Championship won by Brodie Holmes in the 300m Dash.
  • Second place finishes by Austin Eby in the 500m, Ty Trinh in the Long Jump, Patrick Sawyer in the Pole Vault, Max Barbour in the 3200m, and Holmes, Eby, Dana Young, and Garrett Randall in the 4X200m Relay.
  • Third place finishes by Ty Trinh in the 55m Hurdles (school record), Isiah Williamson in the High Jump, Andrew Ankeny in the Pole Vault, Camden Gilmore in the 3200m, Neil Blanchard, Aganze Nkere, Paul MacDonald, and Kenny Wiggins in the 4x800m Relay, and Holmes, Eby, Williamson, and Wiggins in the 4x400m Relay.

The team has also qualified several athletes for the New Balance Indoor Nationals in New York from March 10–12. Brodie Holmes, Dana Young, Ty Trinh, and Austin Eby have qualified for the sprint medley relay and Holmes has qualified for the 300m.
