CHEMISTRY STUDENTS TAKE PART IN U.S. NATIONAL CHEMISTRY OLYMPIAD

Five of our chemistry students—Greg Peterson '18, Ainsley O'Garro '18, Henry Erdman '19, Jack Kinkead '19, and Randal Gleeson '19—recently competed in the local round of the U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad.

Out of the five, Henry Erdman advanced to the national exam round, which will take place on April 22. If he does well enough on the national exam, he might have a chance to represent the U.S. in the annual International Chemistry Olympiad in Thailand. Four winners will be selected from a pool of more than 1,000 students across the country based on their performance on the national exam.

The U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad (USNCO) program is a chemistry competition for high school students. The purpose of the competition is to stimulate young people to achieve excellence in chemistry. The American Chemical Society has sponsored the program since 1984.
