Don for a Day

A Day You Don't Want to Miss

Our Don for a Day program is a great way for your son to explore all facets of the Loyola Blakefield experience first-hand by spending an entire school day on campus shadowing one of our students. After completing your son’s online application, you will receive access to schedule your son’s day-long visit to campus.

  • What to Expect

Don for a Day visitors will be paired with a student host to experience a full academic day here on campus. We will also provide lunch for him so that he can experience our award-winning dining experience. Prospective students are invited to dress like a Loyola Don, which includes a tie, dress shirt, sport coat (starting October 17), and khakis or dress pants.
  • How to Optimize Your Son's Day

    • Encourage him to participate in class, to speak with and ask questions of those whom he encounters.
    • Encourage him to be attentive to the atmosphere as well as the lessons in a class.
    • After his day, ask that he be reflective about the highs and lows and how his experiences compare to those at other schools.
    • Contact our Admissions Office at any time with questions.
  • Don for a Day Testimonials

From Don for a Day Visitors:

“My host seemed like he was friends with all different kinds of guys.”

“Here, every teacher wants every student to do well. I didn’t see that at any other school.”

    From Visiting Parents:

“Loyola could not have been a more welcoming and impressive school. We appreciate the care you gave our family.”

“My son’s Don for a Day experience could not have gone any better. He did not stop talking from the minute he got in the car. He told me that it is clear that Loyola strives for academic excellence and that this sets it apart from the other schools he has visited. He also said the English teacher he observed was the best teacher he has ever seen and it was the ‘best class ever.’ Thank you for making him feel so welcome.”
