Digital working, while something that is new to Loyola, has become a prominent feature in the workforce. Many age-old professions can now be utilized from the comfort of our own homes. But with this shift comes an even more important change, the evolution of the workspace. Now, it is more about the workspace rather than the workplace. Here are some tips to keeping your workspace productive and effective:
Everything has a Place- Create an uncluttered workspace that is specifically for school
- Make sure your space has a consistent WIFI connection
- Set up the tools and materials you will need to complete your schoolwork everyday
- Adjust the height of your chair, keyboard, and screen so that you are comfortable
- Lighting in your workspace should be at least as bright as the computer screen to avoid eye strain
Minimize Distractions- Put your phone out of reach and on silent. Let friends and family members know the hours that you will be "at" school
- Turn the TV off, and make your workspace separate from others who might cause distractions.
- Avoid games and looking at social media while working as it is easy to lose track of the time.
Make a Schedule
- Take a look at the schedules included on this paged under "Scheduling Tools." Print them out and fill them in. Follow that schedule.
Set Expectations- Set some goals for the day. What do you need to get done? What would you like to get done? Prioritize those goals and give yourself a reward when you accomplish them!
