Service & Justice Committee Kicks Off Month of Plunging to Support Special Olympics Maryland

After a phenomenal turnout by the Dons during last year's Cool Schools Polar Bear Plunge at Sandy Point State Park, our Service & Justice Committee was eager to keep the momentum rolling this year. Unfortunately, COVID-19 canceled any hope for an in-person plunge, but our students have still found a way to take the plunge while raising funds for Special Olympics Maryland.

Throughout the month of February, students and teachers will be plunging themselves to raise money for the Special Olympics with hopes to beat last year's fundraising record of $3,677. To kick off this Month of Plunging with Plunge Maryland, our Service & Justice Committee hosted a Q&A with athletes from Special Olympics Maryland after school on Tuesday. Afterwards, Farrell Gregory '22 took the first plunge (see photos below). "Supporting this initiative helps provide so many opportunities for athletes to compete in their events," said Gregory. "I was so proud of what we were able to do last year, and I have faith that we'll be able to continue our mission this year."
