Oluwatoni "Toni" Akintola '22 Receives Daniel W. McNeal '90 Award
We are excited to announce Oluwatoni "Toni" Akintola '22 as the 20th recipient of the Daniel W. McNeal '90 Memorial Scholarship Award. He was officially presented with the honors during the conclusion of our annual Mass of the Holy Spirit this morning. This award is presented annually to a member of the junior or senior class who embodies the characteristics that we hold dear in Jesuit education—one who lives his faith in word and deed, displays academic excellence, is actively engaged in his community, and most of all, exemplifies being a man for others in the same fashion that Dan did.
Toni is a multifaceted young man who has explored and participated in numerous activities during his time at Loyola Blakefield. He has a genuine love of learning and made an immediate impact at Loyola Blakefield with his involvement in sports, clubs, service, and activities all while engaging in stellar academics. He is a passionate writer who pursues this interest by entering writing contests and joining poetry and writing clubs. He is just as serious about his academics, sports, and service activities. He is not afraid to think out of the box and he pursues his interests with intent and purpose. In addition to playing on various sports teams such as Basketball and Track & Field, he is an extremely active member of various clubs and organizations on campus. He started a creative writing club and was a founding member of a peer tutoring organization on campus called Dons For Dons. He is also an active member of our Multicultural Club, Speech & Debate Team, and our Service and Justice Committee. He represents the student body yearly at our Justice Summit, is an organizer and leader for the Baltimore Student Leadership Diversity Conference, and participates in the Ignatian Teach-In For Justice. His future aspirations are to go to college where his intended priorities are arts, athletics, and service.
Congratulations to Toni and his family! More highlights from the Mass to come.
