On November 11, Andrew Hermann, founder and CEO of Better World Beans, visited campus to speak with our Dons about his organization and his efforts to partner with Jesuit high schools and universities to promote education around sustainable agriculture and fair wages as it relates to the coffee industry.
Prior to his family resettling in Seattle, Andrew attended Loyola Blakefield from 2010–11. Now a senior at Xavier University in Cincinnati, he continues to cultivate the seeds of social justice in the Ignatian tradition first planted at Loyola Blakefield through the development of a fair trade coffee company that empowers the farmers of Franco Bidó, Dominican Republic, by giving them the resources, tools, and educational opportunities necessary to compete in an increasingly competitive global economy.
