BLAKEFEST WEEKEND HIGHLIGHTS

This past weekend truly revealed what it means to be a Don for life. On Friday, April 28, Loyola hosted its annual Reunion Stag Night for the Classes of 1972, 1977, 1982, 1987, 1992, 1997, 2002, 2007, and 2012. More than 200 Dons returned to campus to reminisce on their transformative time here at Loyola.

2017 Reunion Stag Night

On Saturday, April 29, the Loyola community celebrated Blakefest, on what turned out to be a beautiful spring day. While the Dan McNeal '90 Family Fun Zone was in full swing by mid-afternoon, the John Price '97 Alumni Lacrosse game saw plenty of Dons from previous championship teams return to campus to compete against one another on Hargaden Field. A new addition this year was the alumni baseball game which was held on Loyola’s baseball diamond. Dons of all ages competed against the current varsity squad in what turned out to be a huge success. To conclude the festivities of Blakefest, varsity lacrosse took on the Cavaliers of Archbishop Spalding on Hargaden Field. Though it was a close game, the Dons ultimately rolled past the Cavaliers by a score of 12-8.

On Saturday evening, Loyola Blakefield hosted Coach Bob Hurley Sr. of St. Anthony High School (NJ) as the keynote speaker for an evening honoring Coach Jerry Savage. The Father George Lounge was packed with guests from all over the Loyola and Baltimore high school basketball community, as Paul McMullen, Chris Clunie ’02, and Coach Hurley each honored Coach Savage with memorable speeches.
