Meet Ramiro

FEATURING:

Ramiro Cruz '26

Ramiro began his journey at Loyola as a member of the Fischer Program. He spent three summers on Loyola’s campus participating in classes, campus activities, and field trips. By the time 9th grade rolled around Ramiro knew with 100% certainty that he wanted to be a Don! “Mr. Bowers, who leads the Fischer Program and is the Director of DEI, hand delivered my acceptance! Since that day Mr. Bowers has always been there for me, encouraging me to take initiative and get involved on campus.” That warm and welcoming feeling Ramiro experienced in those early days is now something he extends to others in the community.
As a math and science guy these are subjects that come naturally to Ramiro, and he plans to pursue civil engineering in the future. For now, he also enjoys exploring Theology and Philosophy as it relates to everyday topics in life. Ramiro has especially enjoyed his time in Mr. Paniccia’s class, “I appreciated how he answered tough morality and ethics questions. I have taken what I learned inside the classroom and use it outside the classroom as well.”
When the bell rings, Ramiro heads to the Varsity Rugby field. He’s been on the team since freshman year and for him it’s been one of the highlights of his time here. “Being on the Rugby team keeps me on track and dedicated to keep going. It is fun to say I am on the team but more importantly it is about being part of something bigger than myself.” Although the varsity season had wrapped up, Ramiro and his teammates, were out there in the bleachers cheering on the JV team. “It was great to be able to support them!”
Ramiro’s participation in campus life also extends to service and clubs. He’s been actively involved with the Neighbor’s Retreat, the Leading with Light Retreat, as well as the Multi- Cultural event, and is a member of the Latin X Club. For Ramiro, the common thread that runs through all these activities is the focus of how to be a good neighbor, how to be there for your peers, and understanding yourself so you can understand others.
Ramiro is a shining example of these qualities. He hopes his legacy to be that of “a representation of Jesus and trying to be the best example by spreading his word and love to others.” We’ve been blessed that Ramiro has been such a big part of our Loyola community!

Fun Fact: I like sports cars, luxury vehicles, and attending car shows!
