Financial Aid

Two types of financial aid:

  1. Merit-based: academic, athletic, leadership, talent, etc. May require separate application, essay, or audition, but often based solely on students’ application for admission
  2. Need-based: awarded based on family’s ability to pay; must file financial aid application(s)
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) - ACCESS FAFSA

  • Available after January 1st; apply for a PIN now
  • Required by every college or university for need-based financial aid
CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE - ACCESS PROFILE

  • Available October 1st
  • Required by many private colleges and universities in addition to the FAFSA for need-based aid
