Loyola Blakefield is proud to announce that Christian Anderson ’89 has been named the new varsity tennis coach, succeeding Dylan Hosford ’04. A dedicated educator and coach, Anderson has been part of Loyola’s faculty and athletic programs for more than a decade, teaching English in the Middle School and coaching across multiple sports.
Over the past 10 years, Anderson has coached within the tennis program, leading the Middle School Tennis team and helping to develop many of Loyola’s current varsity players. In addition, he has coached Middle School Wrestling for 12 years and JV Wrestling for 10, fostering a culture of discipline, sportsmanship, and growth.
“I love coaching, and I love being a Don,” Anderson said. “I have had the privilege of learning how to coach from mentors like Steve Truitt, Chris Jones, and Don Kraft. I am hopeful that I can take over where Coach Hosford left the program. We have a wealth of talent, and I know we will compete in the MIAA. Most importantly, I am excited to continue to strengthen my relationships with these young athletes and help them become incredible men for our community and world.”
Brant Hall ’98, Director of Athletics, praised Anderson’s leadership and commitment to Loyola’s mission. “We are thrilled to have Christian lead our tennis program,” Hall said. “He truly embodies the Jesuit values and traditions that we hold dear at Loyola Blakefield. As a coach, Christian inspires and builds confidence in our young men, encouraging them to surpass the limits they often place on themselves. With his extensive experience within our tennis program, exceptional organizational skills, and genuine ability to connect with our students, Christian is the ideal candidate to guide and grow our team.”
