Loyola Community Gathers for the 2025 Frank P. Fischer Diversity Scholarship Fund Benefit Dinner
Members of the Loyola Blakefield community came together on Saturday, November 8th, for the annual Frank P. Fischer Diversity Scholarship Fund Benefit Dinner, celebrating inclusion, opportunity, and the enduring legacy of Frank P. Fischer.
In the 1960s and ’70s, then-Jesuit Frank Fischer took bold steps to recruit and prepare African-American students to attend Loyola. He was also instrumental in securing and matching funding opportunities, ensuring that students who might not otherwise have access to a Loyola education were fully supported. Today, the Frank P. Fischer Diversity Scholarship Fund, founded and sustained by Loyola’s African-American alumni, continues this mission by providing financial support to students with demonstrated need who meet Loyola’s academic standards.
The evening featured guest speaker Dr. C. Dexter Wise III '72, who shared heartfelt reflections on faith, opportunity, and the transformative power of personal connection. Guests also celebrated Mr. Christopher Foreman Jr. ’70, the first Black president of Loyola Blakefield’s student government, with the Black, Blue, and Gold Award, recognizing his distinguished leadership and lifelong commitment to service.
Loyola Blakefield extends a heartfelt thank you to all attendees, sponsors, students and their families, and supporters of the fund, whose generosity ensures that Frank Fischer's vision of a more inclusive and accessible Loyola education continues to thrive. The evening was a meaningful celebration of community, legacy, and the lasting impact of faith-driven leadership.
