Annual Adopt-A-Family Drive Supports Over 100 Baltimore City Families
One of the hallmarks of the Loyola Blakefield school year is our Adopt-A-Family Drive—our largest annual community-wide service initiative. Rooted in our Catholic, Jesuit mission to form Men for and with Others, this month-long effort unites our entire community in prayerful generosity and service to families in need.
This year, our students, families, faculty, staff, alumni, and many generous volunteers came together with extraordinary compassion to support St. Peter Claver Parish. On Tuesday, December 9, the drive culminated in a day of joyful collaboration as the Loyola Blakefield community organized and delivered thousands of gifts to over 100 families in the Sandtown-Winchester neighborhood of Baltimore City.
Sandtown-Winchester remains one of Baltimore’s most economically challenged areas, where many families face the daily burdens of poverty. Each year, the Adopt-A-Family Drive provides a moment of light and hope. From warm clothing and toys to essential household items, every gift reflected the spirit of Advent—a season in which we prepare our hearts to welcome Christ by serving those most in need.
As gifts were carried from the Four-Court gym to the trucks, and the trucks into the parish hall, families and parish staff welcomed our volunteers with profound gratitude. Their joy and warmth were powerful reminders of the transformative impact that small acts of love and service can make.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all who played a role in this year’s Adopt-A-Family Drive. Your generosity continues a beloved Loyola Blakefield tradition, one that strengthens our bond with the Baltimore community and brings Christ’s presence to life through service, solidarity, and hope. May the families we served feel God’s presence through these gifts, and may our continued commitment to service shine Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam—for the Greater Glory of God.
