• 6th Grade Advisory Program

  Mentoring in Small Groups
  Experiences in the middle level years are critical to development. Our 6th Grade Advisory Program pairs an adult mentor with a small group of students designed to:

  • Assist with adjustment to the middle school setting.
  • Help students better understand themselves and their relationships with others.
  • Improve organizational, test-taking, and study skills.
  • Guide students to better understand their roles and responsibilities within their family, school, and community.

• Class Size

  Smaller by Design
  Our class sizes in grades 6–8 are smaller by design. This provides a tailored approach to learning, as well as age-appropriate formational opportunities.

  
  One of the most distinguished characteristics of our middle school program is our faculty who are dedicated to applying learning strategies that work best for boys. Their passion and energy is one of the many reasons why Loyola’s middle school is the ideal setting for academic, social, and spiritual growth.

• Counseling

  Supporting Our Students
  In addition to resources made available through the Guidance Office, we have a dedicated middle school counselor who provides age-appropriate support and programming to assist students in navigating their studies, as well as addressing issues related to mental health/wellness and any other personal, social, or academic challenges they may face.

• Spiritual Formation

  Retreat & Service Programs
  Our robust retreat and service programs are designed to provide students with opportunities to explore their faith and grow closer to one another. Often led by upper school students, retreats are one of the many ways a Loyola middle school student creates relationships with his classmates and dives deeper into the unique values of a Jesuit education. Service work, in partnership with local schools and organizations, allows our Dons to broaden their perspective and begin to develop a lifelog commitment to serving others.

• Physical Education

  Daily Classes
  Our 6th and 7th grade students take part in a physical education class daily. Units range anywhere from archery and fencing to water polo and swimming.
