Choosing the right school is one of the most important decisions your family will make. At Loyola Blakefield, your son will be challenged to grow academically, spiritually, and personally within a community rooted in the Jesuit tradition of forming Men for Others.

    Attend our Open House, schedule a campus tour, or reach out to our Admissions team for other ways to visit our beautiful 65-acre campus. The best way to discover what makes Loyola special is to experience it firsthand.

  • 2. Submit Your Application & Register for Don for a Day

    Complete Loyola's online application through our admissions portal and schedule your son's Don for a Day experience. You can save your progress and return to it at any time.

  • 3. Gather Required Materials

    As part of the admissions process, you will need to gather several required materials, including school records and teacher referrals. Please review the checklist below for a complete list of requirements and additional details.

  • 4. Apply for Financial Aid (Optional)

    Loyola is committed to making a Jesuit education accessible to talented young men from a wide range of backgrounds. Families seeking tuition assistance should complete the financial aid application by the published deadline.

  • 5. Receive Your Admissions Decision

    Once all application requirements have been completed, our Admissions Committee carefully reviews each applicant through a holistic process that considers academic preparation, character, interests, and potential contributions to the Loyola community.

What Happens After I Apply?

After you submit your application, here's what you can expect:

  • We'll confirm receipt of your application.

    You'll receive access to your admissions checklist, where you can schedule your son’s Don for a Day, track outstanding requirements and monitor your progress.

  • We'll review your completed file.

    Our Admissions Committee evaluates each applicant thoughtfully, considering academic performance, recommendations, involvement, character, and alignment with Loyola's mission and values.

  • We'll communicate with your family.

    If additional information is needed, a member of our Admissions Team will reach out directly.

  • You'll receive your admissions decision.

    Families will be notified according to the admissions timeline below, along with next steps regarding enrollment and registration.

  • Become a Don!

    Accepted students and their families will receive information about enrollment, course registration, orientation events, and opportunities to begin connecting with the Loyola community.

Transferring to Loyola

While we are not currently accepting transfer applications for the 2027–2028 school year, we invite you to review the grade-level information below for additional details and future opportunities to join the Loyola community.

  • Middle School Transfers

    Our middle school enrollment is currently full, and we do not anticipate any openings for 7th or 8th grade for the 2027–2028 school year. You are welcome to complete our inquiry form so we may stay in touch regarding future admissions opportunities. No additional action is needed at this time.

  • 10th–11th Grade Transfer Opportunities

    Our online transfer application will open in February for current 9th and 10th grade students interested in enrolling in 10th or 11th grade for the 2027–2028 school year. Transfer decisions will be communicated in March. Please complete our inquiry form so that we have your information on file. No additional action is needed at this time.

  • 12th Grade Transfer Opportunities

    12th grade transfer opportunities are considered on a case-by-case basis and only when there is a unique circumstance or reason for the transfer. Families are welcome to complete our inquiry form, and we will be in touch with additional information in February. No additional action is needed at this time.

Middle School Application Checklist

    Complete our online application (Deadline: December 11th, 2026)

  • Schedule Your Don for a Day Visit

    After completing your son’s online application, you will receive access to schedule your son’s day-long visit to campus. Before your son’s day begins, each family will be invited to a brief reception followed by the opportunity to spend time learning more about Loyola with members of the Loyola community.

  • Register for Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE)

    Candidates for admission to Loyola’s middle school must take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE). 

    Loyola will administer the ISEE test on Saturday, November 21st, 2026 from 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. The event code for that day is 3AFCDBG9. Spots are limited and will reach capacity. There are several other test sites and dates available as well, including an online option. Loyola accepts test results from all locations.

    Students are not required to take the test at Loyola. The test is offered at Baltimore area schools throughout the fall. You can find a list of the other test locations, dates, and times, as well as the online registration form on the ERB website.

  • Submit Records Request & Common Referral Form

    Applicants from Archdiocese of Baltimore schools have their records sent by the individual school. Students from all other schools should submit the Request for Records form to their school office.

    All school records and teacher referrals should be sent to us from your son’s school office and can be emailed directly to admissions@loyolablakefield.org

    All school records and teacher referrals are due by January 8th, 2027.

  • Apply for Aid (optional)

    Loyola strives to provide financial assistance to qualifying families. Our financial aid application opens October 14th, 2026 and is due by December 11th, 2026. More information and a link to apply is available on our Tuition & Financial Aid page.

Upper School Application Checklist

    Complete our online application (Deadline: December 11th, 2026)

  • Schedule Your Don for a Day Visit

    After completing your son’s online application, you will receive access to schedule your son’s day-long visit to campus. Before your son’s day begins, each family will be invited to a brief reception followed by the opportunity to spend time learning more about Loyola with members of the Loyola community.

  • Register for High School Placement Test

    Candidates for admission to Loyola’s 9th grade must take the High School Placement Test (HSPT). The test is offered at Baltimore area schools throughout the fall, including here at Loyola Blakefield on Saturday, November 21st, 2026. Candidates can take the test at any of the locations being offered and indicate Loyola Blakefield as one of the schools for scores to be sent to. All candidates should visit the HSPT registration page to register for the test.

    Test results must be received no later than January 8th, 2027.

  • Submit Records Request & Common Referral Form

  • Writing Sample

    Applicants are asked to write a 250-500 word writing sample as a part of the admissions process. The prompt for this writing sample is within the Loyola Blakefield application and can be submitted there. All writing samples need to be uploaded by January 8th, 2027.

  • Apply for Aid (optional)
