Developing Men for Others

Community work is where spiritual growth and being a man for others takes concrete form. Loyola Blakefield’s Ignatian Service and Justice Program makes the concepts of love for the human family and commitment to social justice vivid and relevant. More than an add-on activity, Ignatian Service and Justice is an integral part of a Jesuit education and courses through the heart and soul of our curricula.

Grade Level Service Work
Each grade partners with a local organization and members of the class visit and participate in one service day per year with their homeroom. Students visit the following organizations:
6th Grade – Pickersgill Retirement Community
7th Grade – Ridge Ruxton School
8th Grade – Community Assistance Network
9th Grade – Catholic Charities Head Start / Loyola School
10th Grade – Catholic Charities Gallagher Services / Villa Maria School
11th Grade – Franciscan Center
Service Committee

The SGA Vice President for Service and Ministry leads a group of students in planning service opportunities and fundraisers throughout the school year. The group meets weekly and aims to complete one service project each month. All students and faculty are welcome to attend service committee meetings and events.

Food Pantry Accepting Donations

For over 25 years, Loyola Blakefield has supported our Catholic community within Baltimore City and County with yearly food drives and holiday gift giving. Given the immense needs of the community, Loyola has increased its commitment to reduce food insecurity by opening a permanent food pantry at our school. We need your continued support to provide healthy food for the Loyola Blakefield Food Pantry so we can make monthly food donations to our partners in need.

Donations will be accepted on select Wednesday and Friday mornings. Donations can be dropped off on the carts outside Knott Hall and Sheridan Hall. Please consider donating healthy non-perishable items from our suggested donation list.
