Forming Faith through Reflection, Community, and Action

At Loyola Blakefield, Jesuit Ministry and Service is at the heart of the student experience. Rooted in our Catholic, Jesuit tradition, we invite students to deepen their faith, reflect on their lives, and put their beliefs into action in meaningful and transformative ways.

Through prayer and liturgy, retreat experiences, and immersive service opportunities, students are challenged to grow spiritually and develop a lifelong commitment to faith, justice, and compassion. Guided by the Jesuit ideal of becoming “men for others,” this is a journey of formation that extends beyond the classroom and into the broader community and world.

Jesuit Ministry at Loyola Blakefield

Jesuit Ministry at Loyola Blakefield fosters the spiritual development of every student through the rhythms of prayer, reflection, and sacramental life. In the Ignatian tradition, students are invited to encounter God in all things and to discern how they are called to live with purpose, integrity, and compassion.

Grounded in the Jesuit values of cura personalis (care for the whole person) and magis (the call to do more for others), ministry at Loyola supports students as they grow in faith and develop a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationship with God, others, and the world around them.
Retreats

Every year students participate in a grade-level spiritual retreat held either on campus or at one of the many retreat centers in the surrounding area. These retreats are designed to help Dons become more aware of God’s presence in their lives, grow in appreciation for the importance of community, and reflect on how they are called to live a life that glorifies God through action.

Through prayer, reflection, and shared experience, each retreat offers students a meaningful opportunity to step away from daily routines and deepen their faith. See below for a full list of retreats by grade level.

Service & Justice

Service at Loyola Blakefield invites students to put their faith into action through meaningful engagement with the community, especially those most in need. Grounded in Ignatian spirituality, students are encouraged to reflect on issues of justice, recognize the dignity of every person, and respond with compassion and action.
