9th Annual Day of the Don Raises Over $150,000

The Loyola Blakefield community once again demonstrated its extraordinary generosity and commitment to the school’s mission during the 9th annual Day of the Don, raising $157,269 from 679 benefactors in support of the Loyola Fund and the formation of Men for Others.

Throughout the 24-hour giving challenge, alumni, parents, faculty, staff, students, and friends came together to celebrate and strengthen the Catholic, Jesuit mission that defines a Loyola education. Gifts made during Day of the Don directly support every student experience at Loyola Blakefield — from academics, athletics, and co-curricular opportunities to retreats, service programs, financial aid, and spiritual formation.

This year’s Day of the Don saw record-setting participation from Loyola alumni, who contributed an astounding 532 gifts — the highest alumni participation total in Day of the Don history and a significant increase from last year.

Leading the way was the Class of 1984, which set two all-time Day of the Don class records with 72 gifts and an incredible 46.5% class participation rate. The Class of 1990 continued its tradition of strong support with 59 gifts and 38.8% participation, while the Class of 2002 surged into second place overall with 49 gifts, reaching an impressive 42.2% participation rate.

While the numbers themselves are remarkable, the true impact of Day of the Don is found in what those gifts make possible for Loyola students every day. Support of the Loyola Fund strengthens the full Loyola Blakefield experience, helping young men grow intellectually, spiritually, physically, and socially through the school’s Catholic, Jesuit tradition of forming the whole person.

From the first gift of the morning to the final minutes before midnight, the Loyola community once again showed what it means to live as Men for Others. Loyola Blakefield extends its sincere gratitude to every donor, advocate, volunteer, and supporter who made this year’s Day of the Don another tremendous success.
