As part of our Summer Spotlight series, we are proud to recognize Will Wnek '26 as he prepares to continue his academic and athletic career at Colgate University, where he will major in Economics and play Division I soccer.
Reflecting on his time at Loyola Blakefield, Will points first to the community that helped shape his experience and supported him throughout his high school journey.
"My favorite thing about being a Loyola Don is the tight-knit community," Will said. "All my peers, faculty, and staff truly cared about my own personal growth and forming authentic relationships. The community has been of immense support in personal tough times and has shaped me into the man I am today. I'm forever grateful for my Loyola family and know I'll have brothers for life."
A standout student-athlete, Will excelled both on the soccer field and in the classroom. He earned First Team All-MIAA and Maryland Second Team All-State honors while also being inducted into the National Honor Society.
His leadership, commitment to excellence, and dedication to the Loyola community were further recognized through two of the school's most prestigious awards: the Doctor Ford Loker Award and the C. Markland Kelly Athletic Service Award, which honors leadership, promotion of school athletics, teamwork, sportsmanship, and scholarship.
Whether competing on the field, leading by example, or building meaningful relationships within the Loyola community, Will embodied what it means to be a Loyola Don. We congratulate him on his accomplishments and look forward to following his success at Colgate and beyond.
